Ever wondered how we can convert waste into energy? That's right! In order to convert waste into green energy, we need something called gasification technology. One of those ways consists in the gasification revolution that changes our mindset about trash and how we power our quotidian lives.
Gasification – the process to convert waste into a particular gas is called syngas. These gases are composed of important things such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide etc. Syngas can be employed in a variety of functions. Like we use it to provide our homes and schools with electricity for example. It can also keep us warm when it is cold and even be used to power our cars so we could move from place to place. That way, we can use less oil and gas from the ground to create energy, which is better for our earth because it helps keep out planet clean and healthy.
As the population of cities grow we produce a tonne of waste that has to be safely disposed off. There is a term for that it's called waste management. This is where gasification comes in. ProsOne of the best things about trash gasification is that it can accommodate a myriad type of waste. It has everything from our household waste that we throw away to the waste generated at the farms during production of crops, wood scraps after constructional projects and even sewage which is all by-products produced in our households (bathrooms). If we collect all of these different kinds of trash and transform them into energy then the environment will not be damaged anymore, instead it would create less pollution in making cleaner energy that everyone can use. We have less trash in land fills, meaning we are better off for our planet as well.
Gasification for example is great at converting solid waste into energy. Solid waste is really challenging to dispose of and can sit for prolonged durations within landfills – places where all the trash goes. Gasification allows us to convert this waste into syngas, which aids in the production of electricity and heat for residential use. The remaining ash from this, is also used in the manufacturing of useful items like Band Materials for construction or even fertilizers to be used on the farms. Indicating that we are creating not only energy but new means to harness the remainder.
